What is MTOP?

MTOP is a non-surgical option to end an early pregnancy (up to 9 weeks gestation) using two types of prescribed medication. It is a legal and medically approved method in Australia.

How Does MTOP Work?

1. Initial Consultation
• You'll meet with a GP to confirm the pregnancy and determine if MTOP is suitable for you. We will provide information, answer your questions, and support you in making an informed decision.
2. Blood Tests & Ultrasound
• These are necessary to confirm how far along the pregnancy is and ensure it’s not ectopic (outside the uterus).
3. Medication Phase
• The first tablet (Mifepristone) is taken at the clinic.
• The second set of tablets (Misoprostol) is taken at home 24–48 hours later. This causes the uterus to contract and expel the pregnancy.
4. Follow-Up
• A follow-up visit is scheduled to make sure the process is complete and you are recovering well, both physically and emotionally.
